This song deals with the global war on drugs and it’s inspired by the brilliant series The Wire. The problem is that with the way we try to deal with the grave problems drugs cause to our society we have caused nothing but more troubles. For instance: by criminalizing the people who are addicted instead of offering them the constructive (health) care they need (being addictive is a psychological and physical medical diagnose), we are feeding the prison business. Also, the way we’ve set up our drug laws makes dealing/smuggling/producing drugs a very worthy source of income. If you want to know more about this subject, look up the 2011 report of the Global Commission on Drug Policy (GCDP) in which it is clearly stated a lot needs to be changed concerning our drug laws.
