about

This song sketches the somewhat misanthropic view we have of mankind. It seems like we are driven by the need of gaining more possessions and are willing to do anything for it, even if it involves invading countries and killing people. The ‘gods’ we speak of in this song stand for metaphorical gods like ‘capitalism’ and ‘nepotism’ besides the traditional supernatural gods.

lyrics

Our minds wrapped up in war
Set our eyes on shiny rivers
To feed the urge
Of possessing more and more

Place our herds in the same direction
Armies to seize your land.
For the sake of modern corporate lies
Truth’s sold out for good

Our minds wrapped up in war
Set our eyes on shiny rivers
To feed the urge
Of spilling blood and guts

We’ve run over many young lives
In need to seize your land
For the sake of modern religion
Truth’s been sold for goods

Just thank your god!
Follow the apparatus (2x)

Embrace our end we’ve set up so fast
Embrace the money we earned with bloodpacts
Lock and load until our world is dead
And thank your gods for that

about

Four friends, sharing a love of independent music, came together in the summer of 2008 to establish their own musical ... more kingdom: Sweet Empire. They started to create songs that are melodic and playful, yet at the same time deadly serious. Bringing to mind bands like Descendents, and Dag Nasty among others. Sweet Empire has a strong on animal rights, the environment, politics, and religion. less
