about

It’s pretty obvious what this song is about. Another protest song about one of our biggest frustrations; Religion. Although we state we have more faith (funny word in this context) in modern science than in almost anything, we can also see the dangers of being trapped in another doctrine. Nothing bears the whole truth and even science can be wrong. Luckily science is always testing itself and willing to change by proven facts. While writing these lyrics Rowald was inspired by the writings of Greg Graffin “Anarchy Evolution; faith, science and Bad Religion in a world without god” & Richard Dawkins’ ‘The God Delusion”.

lyrics

The cracks are crumbling in your history now
New facts – new faces
Messing up what you so desperately
and gravely created

But with the ages we found more and more
Evidence about earlier man and his steps
And with the ages we tracked down more and more
To defy what was always said

The cross has been carried far too long
With failed crusades for unknown sins
Can we dig up what was lost?
In those blackened centuries
Let the separation become complete
No more gods to kill for and to please
Can we escape- this blackened century?

Let’s erase the traces
Of their shallow and repulsive deeds
That build their nation

But with the ages we found more and more
Evidence about earlier man and his steps
And with the ages we tracked down more and more
To defy what was always said

This cross has been carried far too long
With failed crusades for unknown sins
Can we dig up what was lost?
In those blackened centuries
Let the separation become complete
No more gods to kill for and to please
Can we escape
Can we escape- this blackened century?

New words on paper
Against old words on stones
Preacher against debater
Another throne against another throne.

Aren’t we many years too late
to discuss what to eliminate?
Wouldn’t we become just as bad
If we stole the voices from them?

about

Four friends, sharing a love of independent music, came together in the summer of 2008 to establish their own musical ... more kingdom: Sweet Empire. They started to create songs that are melodic and playful, yet at the same time deadly serious. Bringing to mind bands like Descendents, and Dag Nasty among others. Sweet Empire has a strong on animal rights, the environment, politics, and religion. less
